What to Wear for Your Family Photo Session
One of the most common questions families have before their session is, “What should we wear?" The right outfits not only add to the aesthetic appeal of your photos but also reflect your family's personality. Here's your go-to guide to help everyone look their best!
1. Consider Your Location
Think about the setting of your photo shoot. Are you going for an outdoor session with lots of greens and browns? Or maybe an urban setting with more architectural elements? Choose colors/styles that complement the background without blending in.

Forego the matchy-matchy, and aim for a cohesive look. Choose a color scheme (2-3 main colors) and pull together outfits that fit within those hues for the rest of your family. 3. Where to shop
Sometimes we just don’t have everything we need in our closets. Target, Old Navy, H&M, Zara, and Amazon are all great options. If you’re going the flowy dress route, Baltic Born has endless styles available.
4. What to avoid
Anything bright, neon, or reflective will cause color casts on your skin (and those near you) when the light hits. It’s difficult to edit out, so it’s best to leave those items in your closet. A little black or navy here and there is okay but those colors can be a bit overwhelming in photos. Also, stark white can show up a little blue, so try and opt for cream, off-white, or ivory.
5. Texture and Layers
Incorporate different textures and layers to add visual interest and depth to your photos. Think knit sweaters, denim, lace, or accessories like scarves, headbands, and hats. These choices can also offer flexibility with changing weather conditions (Ohioans know).
